Peacebuilding and Peaceful Coexistence Center

Mr. Thomas Hill, Director of the Education and Peace Research Program at the Center for International Studies at New York University, visited the Center for Peacebuilding and Peaceful Coexistence at our university, accompanied by Professor Dr. Qabas Hassan Awad, Director of the UNESCO Chair. During the visit, he was briefed on the stages of establishing the center and the most prominent activities that were implemented during the recent period after its official opening six months ago. In light of the recent intense terrorist attack on the Nineveh Governorate, which had a devastating impact on both society and its citizens, he expressed his immense joy at the establishment of an institution dedicated to peacebuilding. This marks a significant turning point in the University of Mosul’s step towards integrating into society and offering its services in a crucial and vital field like peacebuilding. It was decided at the conference to allow the center to collaborate on a number of projects based on the center’s research and scientific agenda as well as its plans for future peacebuilding efforts.
