On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the Center for Peacebuilding and Peaceful Coexistence at the University of Mosul organized a scientific symposium titled “The Role of Civil Society in Consolidating Peace”, held at the Literary Forum Hall on campus.
The symposium featured research presentations organized into two main themes. The first, “The Reality of Civil Society’s Work in Consolidating Community Peace”, explored strategies for promoting a culture of peace and encouraging community dialogue. The second theme, “Ways to Develop Civil Society’s Work in Consolidating a Culture of Peace”, addressed potential future solutions to enhance the role of non-governmental organizations and improve their operational mechanisms.
Attendees engaged in an open dialogue session, raising questions and offering insights into practical fieldwork and strategies for achieving more effective outcomes.
This event is part of the Center’s broader initiative to strengthen collaboration between peacebuilding experts, government institutions, and civil society organizations. It also aims to challenge misconceptions and reaffirm the critical importance of peacebuilding in Nineveh during the current phase of recovery and development.
