Together for Environmental Balance and Sustainable Peace

October 6–7, 2025 | University of Mosul

The Peacebuilding and Peaceful Coexistence Center at the University of Mosul is pleased to announce its Second Scientific Conference, entitled:
“Environmental Balance and Its Impact on Peacebuilding… Challenges, Opportunities, and Solutions.”

This major academic event aims to explore the vital connection between environmental stability, sustainable development, and peacebuilding, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Researchers, academics, experts, and practitioners are invited to present innovative research, share best practices, and propose actionable solutions for promoting peace through environmental sustainability.

 

Conference Themes

First Theme: Challenges and Opportunities for Peacebuilding in Times of Unstable Environmental Balance

Topics include:

  • Implications of environmental change for conflict escalation in fragile areas
  • Environmental disasters (natural or human-made) and their role in displacement and social tension
  • Environmental cooperation in managing shared resources (water, energy) as a peacebuilding tool
  • Case studies of environmental projects (reforestation, renewable energy) promoting coexistence
  • Roles of international and local organizations in restoring environmental balance and peace
  • Environmental justice as a foundation for peace in resource-unequal regions
