Training course
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Qusay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi, the respected President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Maan Hassan Abdullah, the respected Acting Dean of the College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering, a training course titled “Sustainable Development in Agriculture and Irrigation Operations” was held from March 17 to 25, 2024. This training course is one of the specialized courses for the purposes of job promotion and the development of scientific and practical efficiency.
The course achieved several objectives, including the impact of certain plants on achieving a sustainable environment, the effect of using renewable energies, and the impact of using nanotechnology in achieving sustainable development. On the first day, an introduction to sustainable development was followed by a lecture on the impact of the water lentil plant on the sustainable environment. On the second day, the lecturer discussed the role of the Azolla plant in improving the aquatic environment, followed by a field visit to the College of Agriculture and Forestry to observe these sustainable plants. On the third day, the types of renewable energies and their applications in agriculture and irrigation were addressed. On the fourth day, participants were briefed on the uses of biofuel and nanotechnology in agriculture, specifically, and in sustainable development, in general. The test was conducted, and certificates were distributed to the participants on the last day of the course. The lecturers in this course included: Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Mohamed, Assist. Prof. Dr. Nidal Tahseen Taha (Agriculture and Forestry), Assist. Prof. Raqib Hammadi Rajab, Assist.
