Workshop: (Environmental management according to ISO 14001 standard )
Sponsored by Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, the respected President of the University of Mosul (UoM). Under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ma,an Hassan Abdullah, Dean of the College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering. Department of Petroleum Reservoir Engineering In cooperation with the Sustainable Development Unit / Presidency of the University of Mosul organized a workshop entitled: (Environmental management according to ISO 14001 standard ) The importance of implementing the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System in public and private institutions, highlighting its pivotal role in enhancing environmental performance and reducing the negative impacts of industrial and service activities on the environment.
It was discussed how to adopt this standard as a systematic framework that helps institutions identify environmental aspects of impact, set appropriate environmental policies and goals, while adhering to relevant environmental laws and legislation.
The mechanisms provided by ISO 14001 to monitor environmental performance were also explained, including waste management and rationalization of resource consumption (such as water and energy).
