Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Ma’an Hassan Al-Majid, Dean of the College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering, the Department of Petroleum Reservoir Engineering, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a training course titled: “Engineering Translation in the Crosshairs of Artificial Intelligence: An Analysis of Failures and Challenges,” for the period 21–23 October 2025.

The course was delivered by Asst. Lecturer Ameera Rifai Hinawi and addressed multiple topics, including the relationship between AI and engineering translation, the precise definition of engineering translation and how it differs from other types of translation, and the challenges facing translators in this specialized field. It also discussed the impact of machine translation tools and AI systems on the quality and accuracy of engineering translation through practical examples and comparative models between human and machine translation.
