Vision, Mission and Objectives

Vision:

The vision of the department is to make the Department of Mining Engineering a vital department that adopts a distinguished academic and research program, achieving educational and Research Excellence at the national and international levels by providing academic services and research activities with high professionalism through the department, faculty members and students.

The message:

The Department’s mission is to graduate mining and metallurgical engineers with a distinguished educational level that reflects the modern technical level, which qualifies them to enter directly into the fields of mining and metallurgical engineering profession or to complete their higher studies.

Objectives:

Training and qualifying students to have the ability after graduation as mining engineers to achieve the following goals:

  1. The ability to develop their technical and personal skills in order to adapt to the technological novelties facing them in their professional life.
  2. The ability to perform the duties assigned to them with high professionalism that adheres to the applicable laws and regulations and professional ethics.
  3. The ability to continue their higher studies in mining engineering or in any other field related to their field of specialization.
  4. The ability to employ their communication, teamwork and leadership skills to serve their profession.
  5. Full awareness of the important role played by the mining engineer to maintain the health and safety of the community by preserving the environment and applying safety regulations during work.
  6. Optimal investment of mineral wealth and support of the national economy by providing the industrial sector and related mining companies with qualified specialized cadres capable of applying scientific and engineering concepts in solving the engineering problems facing them.
  7. Design and conduct engineering experiments and analyze their results.
  8. Design and implement engineering systems that effectively achieve the desired goals.
  9. Work with the group, in team spirit, on communication and leadership.
  10. Their awareness of the ethics and responsibilities of the profession.
  11. Interest in continuing education in developing the skills of basic scientific disciplines in the Department. Such as engineering, mining and Applied Geology, Mine Engineering, Planning and technology, mine area, ore concentration and Processing Engineering, Engineering and design of tunnels and subsurface installations, rock mechanics and testing, ventilation and industrial security in mines and tunnels, geology of mineral ores, oil geology, drilling of oil, gas and groundwater wells, extraction of metallic and metallic ores, processing of applied mineral ores, metal forming and plumbing, corrosion and protection of metals, non-metallic materials and its applications, evaluation and inspection of engineering materials, environmental studies.
