Department’s Vision:

The Department of Petroleum and Refining Engineering aspires to become one of the leading departments both locally and internationally in graduating competent engineers specialized in petroleum and refining engineering, following the latest globally recognized curricula.

Department’s Mission:

To contribute to the development of the Petroleum sector in Iraq by providing specialized engineering professionals in the fields of Petroleum exploration, production, petroleum industry technology, and investment. Additionally, to offer scientific advice to government institutions operating in the Petroleum sector.

The department aims to provide students with a contemporary scientific experience that enhances their skills by creating a suitable environment for learning and intellectual creativity, with the goal of achieving excellence in their professional lives. Furthermore, the department strives to graduate specialized engineering personnel with comprehensive knowledge in the fundamentals of petroleum and refining engineering, at an advanced level of knowledge and technological innovation. This enables them to excel in their vital careers in both practical and scientific aspects of life

Department’s Objectives:

1–Educating, training, and preparing specialized engineering personnel for work in the field of petroleum production technology and the petroleum industry, and all related aspects, by adopting the latest accredited theoretical and practical scientific curricula used in many reputable universities.

2- Empowering department graduates with advanced qualifications in the field of oil production and industry technology in Iraq, equipping them with skills to utilize modern techniques in their precise scientific specialization.

3-Providing scientific and technical assistance and consultations to all government departments, institutions, and entities operating in the petroleum sector, contributing to solving various related scientific issues, and working on improving performance and academic achievement for the benefit of society.

4-Preparing creative specialized personnel for postgraduate studies with the ability to develop and establish scientific frameworks in the field of petroleum production and petroleum industry technologies to meet the immediate needs of the community and provide solutions to related problems.

5-Establishing effective local and international partnerships with universities and relevant government agencies.

6-Focusing on scientific research and its fundamental role in serving the community and solving its problems through applied research, scientific, and engineering consultations for relevant entities.

7-Supporting community activities through workshops, training courses, and seminars related to petroleum production and the petroleum industry.

8-Enhancing collaboration opportunities with government departments and institutions related to the petroleum industry to promote the state of the petroleum industry in Iraq and find joint solutions to the challenges facing this sector.
