Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Director of the Regional Studies Center, Assist. Prof. Dr. Tareq Mohammad Tayeb Al-Qassar, and in the presence of the Administrative Assistant to the University President, Assist. Prof. Dr. Rafal Hassan Hamed, Regional Studies Center received on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, the ministerial committee tasked with evaluating research centers in public and private universities. The committee was headed by Prof. Dr. Lubna Khamees Mahdi, Director General of the Research and Development Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The visit aimed to enhance the quality of research performance and advance academic standards in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals.

During the visit, the committee reviewed the Center’s scientific and administrative workflow, mechanisms for managing research programs, and the volume of scholarly output published in reputable academic journals. The committee also examined the Center’s role in supporting sustainable development issues, particularly quality education, equality, decent work, innovation, strong institutions, and academic partnerships. Future plans designed to strengthen research aligned with community needs and local and regional development were also presented.

The University Presidency and the Center’s administration reaffirmed their commitment to continuously advancing institutional and research performance, further consolidating the University of Mosul’s standing as a leading academic institution actively contributing to sustainable development and community service.
