A Research Approach to the Geopolitical Impact of Collective Memory Amid Regional Transformations

As part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week activities, Regional Studies Center / Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit, organized a seminar on Sunday, February 8, 2026, entitled “The Geopolitical Impact of the Dialectic of Memory and History in Strengthening National Identity Building”. The event aimed to highlight the role of collective memory and historical narratives in consolidating national belonging and enhancing societal stability amid ongoing regional and international transformations.

The seminar addressed several key themes, focusing on the relationship between history and national identity and their geopolitical implications. Participants emphasized the importance of employing national memory in a constructive manner that supports social cohesion and strong institutions, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

The seminar concluded with a call to sustain scholarly dialogue and strengthen research partnerships to promote an inclusive national identity that contributes to sustainable development and fosters a more aware and stable society.
