Regional Studies Center Hosts a Workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Research

As part of its efforts to keep pace with the rapid digital transformations in scientific research, Regional Studies Center, in cooperation with the Office of Scientific Affairs at the University of Mosul, organized a scientific workshop titled “Enhancing Research Competence in the Humanities Using Artificial Intelligence Technologies”, on Sunday, March 8, 2026. The workshop was presented by Dr. Rasha Khalid Sabri, Head of Scientific Affairs at the University, and Dr. Faten Aziz Mustafa, Head of the Scientific Research Support Unit at the University of Mosul, with the participation of the Center’s academic staff and researchers interested in developing scientific research tools.
The workshop highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence technologies in advancing research tools for the humanities, including accelerating data analysis, organizing academic references, identifying emerging research trends, and supporting academic writing skills to improve the quality of scholarly output. It also addressed the responsible use of these technologies, ensuring the maintenance of academic integrity while enhancing the originality and rigor of research.
The workshop emphasized that integrating AI tools into research work represents an important step toward building a more efficient and innovative scientific environment, contributing to higher-quality research outputs and increasing opportunities for publication in reputable international journals.
This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities conducted by the Regional Studies Center aimed at developing researchers’ skills and enabling them to utilize modern technologies in scientific research, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, by enhancing the quality of teaching and research; Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by supporting innovation and technology in academic institutions; and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening scientific collaboration within the university.
The initiative reflects the University of Mosul’s commitment to advancing digital transformation in scientific research and building researchers’ capacities to harness modern technologies, ultimately contributing to the production of rigorous knowledge that serves society and supports sustainable development pathways.
