A Scientific Workshop on Women in the Digital Transformation Age: Opportunities and Challenges

Regional Studies Center /Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Studies and Planning/Sustainable Development Unit, as part of the activities of the Center’s Women Affairs Committee and in partnership with the Women Affairs Unit at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, held a scientific workshop titled “Women and the Digital Transformation Era: Opportunities and Challenges”. The workshop was presented by Lecturer Zainab Abdul-Elah Abdul-Karim on Monday, March 9, 2026, as part of the implementation of the Third National Plan for Women, Peace, and Security, under the pillar of cultural awareness.

The workshop aimed to enhance the role of women in the digital society and empower them to face technological challenges, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on three main goals: Gender Equality (Goal 5), Decent Work and Economic Growth (Goal 8), and Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (Goal 9).

The sessions addressed the digital opportunities available to women, as well as the cultural and technological challenges they encounter in the era of digital transformation. The workshop concluded with practical recommendations to support the empowerment of women in the digital economy and to effectively advance the objectives of sustainable development.
