Regional Studies Center Hosts Workshop on Human Rights Trends in the Middle East

The Regional Studies Center / Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit and the Human Rights Division at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, organized a scientific workshop titled “The State of Human Rights in Middle Eastern Countries: Selected Models” on Sunday, November 16, 2025. The event came as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness of fundamental rights issues and support sustainable development pathways in the region.

The workshop focused on analyzing the human rights situation in the Middle East and reviewing the most prominent challenges faced by countries in this field. It also highlighted positive practices and models that can serve as foundations for developing more just and inclusive policies.

The workshop aimed to link human rights issues with the dimensions of sustainable development and to demonstrate the role of academic institutions in supporting this trajectory, in line with relevant Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
