Regional Studies Center Holds a Seminar on Regional Media Discourse and its Impact on Image of Women

As part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, the Regional Studies Center / Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the University Presidency’s Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit, and the Women’s Affairs Unit, organized a seminar entitled “Regional Media Discourse and Its Impact on the Image and Role of Women” on Monday, December 8, 2025.
The seminar was presented by Dr. Batoul Halil Jubair, Lecturer Zainab Abdul-Ilah Abdul-Karim, and Lecturer Ula Mumtaz Ismail. It focused on analyzing the role of regional media in shaping women’s public image, its influence on their societal practices, and highlighting both the positive and negative aspects of media discourse on gender equality. The seminar also addressed key media policies to enhance women’s participation across various sectors, linking these efforts to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5 (Gender Equality), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
