Seminar Examines Trump Doctrine and Prospects of Escalation between Washington and Tehran

Regional Studies Center / Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Studies and Planning Department / Sustainable Development Unit at the University Presidency, held a scientific seminar on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, entitled “The Trump Doctrine and the Prospects of Escalation between Washington and Tehran,” with the participation of a number of professors and researchers specializing in political and strategic affairs.
The presentations addressed several key themes, most notably the tools of political and economic pressure, the possibilities of escalation or de-escalation between Washington and Tehran, and the implications of these dynamics for regional security and the future of international relations. The seminar also emphasized the role of research centers in providing rigorous and evidence-based analyses to support decision-makers.
The seminar aimed to shed light on the nature of U.S. policy toward Iran under what became known as the Trump Doctrine, and to analyze its repercussions on regional and international stability. It further linked the discussion to three Sustainable Development Goals: Goal (4) Quality Education through the promotion of academic awareness, Goal (16) Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by examining the impact of conflicts on security, and Goal (17) Partnerships for the Goals through research and institutional cooperation.
