Regional Studies Center Holds Scientific Workshop on Transitioning to Rigorous Research Methodologies

Regional Studies Center, represented by its Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Studies and Planning’s Sustainable Development Unit at the University Presidency, held a scientific workshop on Sunday, 25 October 2026, entitled “Transitioning from Questionable to Rigorous Research Methodologies: A Roadmap for Publishing Research in Scopus-Indexed Journals”. The workshop was delivered by Eng. Abdulghafour Waadallah Abdulghafour.

The workshop aimed to enhance researchers’ skills in producing rigorous scientific research, promote academic integrity, and familiarize participants with publication standards in reputable scholarly journals. It also addressed strategies for selecting appropriate journals, avoiding questionable research practices, and improving the quality of scientific output to strengthen the university’s presence in international research databases.

The workshop aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). This alignment is reflected in its emphasis on developing research capacities, enhancing the quality of knowledge, and fostering institutional and academic collaboration.
