Remote Sensing Center Holds a Workshop on the Concept of Blackbody and Land Surface Temperature (LST)

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Director of the Remote Sensing Center, Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulrahman Ramzi Qubaa, the Remote Sensing Center organized a workshop on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, entitled “The Concept of Blackbody and Land Surface Temperature (LST).”
The workshop was delivered by Mr. Sabah Hussein Ali, a lecturer at the Center.
During the workshop, a detailed explanation was presented on the concept of the blackbody and its significance in understanding thermal phenomena. The session also addressed methods for measuring Land Surface Temperature (LST) using remote sensing techniques, highlighting practical applications in environmental studies, climate change monitoring, and assessing their impacts on natural resources.
The workshop further provided participants with an opportunity for discussion and interaction, where questions were raised regarding the use of remotely sensed data in scientific research and data analysis
