Remote Sensing Center Participates in Sustainable University Week Activities

The Remote Sensing Center participated in the activities of Sustainable University Week organized by the University of Mosul. The event was inaugurated by the University President, Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, with broad participation from academic departments and research centers.

The center’s participation included the presentation of a set of specialized maps demonstrating remote sensing applications in environmental and natural resource fields. In addition, several modern devices and technologies were showcased, including an intelligent environmental monitoring system based on the Internet of Things (IoT), which enables the tracking and analysis of temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure.

The center also highlighted its key research projects focused on climate change monitoring, land use analysis, and supporting sustainable resource management plans. Furthermore, scientific explanations were provided to visitors on how remote sensing technologies and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) can be utilized to address sustainability challenges.

The center’s pavilion witnessed notable engagement from attendees.

This participation reflects the Remote Sensing Center’s commitment to actively contributing to scientific activities organized by Iraqi universities, strengthening its research presence, and reinforcing its role in supporting sustainable development pathways and serving the community.
