Human Rights Workshop at the College of Tourism Sciences

The Human Rights Division at the University of Mosul Presidency, in cooperation with the High Commission for Human Rights, organized a workshop entitled “Human Rights in the Tourism Sector: Challenges and Opportunities,” on Thursday, 7 May 2026, at the College of Tourism Sciences hall, in the presence of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Manal Raafat Khalid, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Prof. Dr. Zaid Mohammed Talal, in addition to a number of faculty members and staff.
The workshop was delivered by Dr. Saeed Khdeida and Dr. Nagham Luqman, who discussed the importance of consolidating human rights concepts in the tourism sector, and the role of tourism institutions in promoting values of respect, equality, and the protection of the rights of workers and tourists. They also highlighted the main challenges and opportunities related to the application of human rights principles in this field.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the Dean of the College honored the lecturers in appreciation of their efforts in organizing and delivering this event.
This workshop aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: “Quality Education,” Goal 8: “Decent Work and Economic Growth,” and Goal 16: “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions,” through promoting human rights awareness and reinforcing principles of justice and equality in society.
