Rector of University of Mosul Meets Director of International Book Rescue In London

Prof. Dr. Qusay Kamaladdin Al-Ahmedy, Rector of University of Mosul and the delegation accompanying him met Mrs. Alison Toyed, Director of the International Book Rescue Establishment in London on Tuesday, October 9 2019. The discussion in the meeting turned around dispatching the third batch of distinguished books to the Central Library of University of Mosul and also raising international support for the library through shedding more light on the devastation, sabotage and incendiary acts which exterminated its precious contents during the Daesh terrorists’ control of the city of Mosul. At the end of the meeting, the Rector dedicated the Shield of the Central Library to the establishment for their incessant support to the University. Noteworthy is that the design of the Shield, which is of the remains of a burnt rare book wrapped by double layers of pane, was highly appreciated by the establishment for the symbolism it holds.
