British Times Magazine Interviews Rector of University of Mosul

Journalists, Richard Spencer and Irene of the well-known British Times Magazine, interview Prof. Dr. Qusay Kamaladdin Al-Ahmedy, Rector of University of Mosul on Thursday, December 5 2019. Answering their questions, Rector Al-Ahmedy briefed the hard conditions and the devastation the university went through during the control of the terrorist gangs of Daesh and how the university was restored to capacitate, as to the time being, more than 50000 students from all spectra of the Iraqi society, as well as hosting a large number of students from the middle and the south of Iraq. Rector Al-Ahmedy also reviewed the accomplishments achieved in the University like rehabilitating the infrastructures, buildings and laboratories. He added that the University has promising projects like constructing the Cultural Center and the Advanced Medical Consulting Complex, which are meant to the welfare of the University and Mosul. Likewise, the pioneering use of eco-friendly materials in reconstruction, the trending effort to turn the unused areas into green ones and initiating communication with international prestigious universities like Newcastle University, UK were highlighted by the Rector. Rector Al-Ahmedy expressed gratitude to the remarkable interest of the international bodies, which brought the University to the light spot, like in the case of the Central Library, which was translated into many book grants by British universities and other local and international bodies, and into having the library now reconstituted by the UNDP.
