The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Mosul held a discussion on a postgraduate diploma research titled “Technical and Economic Feasibility Study for the Anbar Combined Power Plant Project” on Thursday, January 2, 2025. The session was attended by Prof. Dr. Munir Salem Taha, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Thaer Ahmed Saadoun Al-Samaan, Dean of the College.
The research, presented by Ouras Ali Delyan from the Department of Economics, aimed to assess the feasibility of establishing a combined-cycle power plant and evaluate the project’s potential success from economic, financial, and environmental perspectives.
Key Findings:
The study concluded that supporting the private sector through state-facilitated measures, such as appropriate investment laws and administrative and tax-related incentives, can significantly contribute to improving the electricity sector. Additionally, simplifying the process of granting medium- and long-term loans is crucial to encouraging investment in this field.
