Under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, and supervised by the Head of the Supervisory and Scientific Evaluation Authority, Prof. Dr. Salah Hadi Al-Fatlawi, and Dr. Hassanain Basim Al-Shaidi, the Department of Student Activities in the Supervisory and Scientific Evaluation Authority of the Ministry held a meeting on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. The meeting, hosted by Al-Farahidi University in Baghdad, gathered directors of student activities departments from public universities, private colleges, and universities.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Hassanain Basim Al-Shaidi, Director of the Department at the Ministry headquarters, Dr. Tariq Hafthi Al-Khayat, President of Al-Farahidi University, Dr. Batoul, Chairperson of the Board of Directors at Al-Farahidi University, the Secretary-General of University Sports in Iraq, the Secretary-General of the Olympic Committee, and heads of sports, scouting, artistic, and volunteer work divisions from the Student Activities Department in the Ministry, along with directors of student activities departments in public universities and private colleges.

The meeting addressed the obstacles and challenges faced by sports, scouting, artistic, and cultural activities, aiming to find solutions and develop these activities within the Ministry. It also included the distribution of shields to the public universities and private colleges that achieved the top three positions in the overall evaluation of sports, scouting, artistic, cultural, and volunteer activities.

The University of Mosul secured third place in the general ranking for Iraqi universities for the academic year 2023-2024. The shield for third place was received by Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul Malik Suleiman Muhammad, Director of the Student Activities Department at the University of Mosul. The meeting was also attended by Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Taha Al-Shilawi, Head of the Sports Division in the Student Activities Department at the University of Mosul and a member of the ministerial media committee in the Student Activities Department at the Ministry.
