With the participation of more than 100 universities from the two countries.. The launch of the Iraqi-Iranian Science Week in Karbala Al-Holy City and the signing of an executive programme between the Iraqi Ministry of Education and its Iranian counterpart.
Under the auspices of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, the work of the Iraqi-Iranian Science Week was launched in Karbala Al-Holy
The opening of the week was attended by Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-iBrahimi, Rector of the University, along with the representatives of the Parliamentary Education Committee, the Governor of Karbala Al-Holy City and the President of its Council, university presidents, general directors and cultural advisers.
During his opening speech, Minister Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi affirmed that the second edition of the Iraqi-Iranian Science Week will proceed in detail to the implementation of the exchange of scientists, professors and researchers, the implementation of research and technological projects, cultural exchange, scholarships, the establishment of specialized workshops, the stimulation of technical and professional cooperation and the establishment of joint science and technology parks.
The Iraqi Government and its development institutions, particularly the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, had achieved positive indicators in the area of internationalization of education and the field of sustainable development. Iraq’s name had been shown in important international ranks owing to the keen interest in scientific research and the rise of the Global Publishing Growth Index.
In turn, Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology Dr. Hussein Semaei Saraf thanked the high level of organization of the Joint Science Week, noting the importance of scientific cooperation between the two countries’ universities and enhancing their position in the global rankings.
The two sides signed an operational programme between Iraq’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Iran’s Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, which included several axes.
The opening ceremony of the Iraqi-Iranian Science Week also featured official speeches, scientific presentations and tributes to a number of personalities.
