Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University, met the University of Mosul team participating in the Cultural Heritage Digitization Conference, which was held at the American University of Beirut – Cyprus, from 2 to 8 April 2025, with the participation of 11 European and Arab universities, and was organized in cooperation with the German Brandenburg University.
He praised the efforts of the participating parties in the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, represented by Assistant Professor Dr. Rawaa Boutros, Director of the Department, and the efforts of Prof. Dr. Nazem Al-Wattar, head of the German Corner Unit.
Which resulted in the university’s virtual projects obtaining the first and second places.
It is noteworthy that the university had participated in this conference with seven interactive virtual projects that simulate the churches and monuments of Mosul, four of which won advanced positions, and two of them were crowned with the first and second places at the level of all participants.
This qualitative achievement came as a result of distinguished research efforts led by a team of students and professors, under the direct supervision of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations/German Corner Unit at the University of Mosul Presidency, within a scientific vision aimed at employing modern technology in the service of Iraqi heritage
