College of Science registers 42 new bacterial strains in global gene bank

As part of ongoing research efforts, Prof. Dr. Amira Mahmoud Al-Rawi and PhD student Eman Abdulaziz Mostafa at the Department of Life Sciences, College of Science, isolated these strains from infected dental root canals in primary and secondary cases, and most of them were diagnosed for the first time at the local and national level. These strains include bacterial species that are difficult to isolate or culture in conventional laboratories.

These strains have been officially certified in the genebank database with documented numbers and codes, including Q482425, EmAm12-EmAm13, and EmAm15-EmAm55, reflecting this research as a documentation of local biodiversity within global norms.
