College of Science registers three new fungal isolates in NCBI

A research team from the College of Science at the University of Mosul has registered three new fungal isolates in the global NCBI database.

They are Aspergillus candidus, Aspergillus terreus, and Penicillium carneum.

The team included Assistant Professor Dr. Fatin Nouri Mulla Abed, Lecturer Dr. Heba Hadi Taha, and Assistant Lecturer Raghad Nabhan Abdul Qadir from the College of Medicine – Ninewa University.

The strains were isolated from the indoor air of hospital lobbies in the city of Mosul and the importance of this achievement lies in its contribution to the study of air pollutants and the promotion of public health and preventive medicine.
This work is a qualitative addition to scientific research in the fields of environment and fungi.
