Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, chaired the 19th session of the University Council for the academic year 2024-2025, in the presence of the council members. Today, Sunday, June 29, 2025.

A number of important scientific and administrative axes were discussed, as the council reviewed the files of scientific promotions and ways to accelerate their procedures to ensure justice and academic sobriety, and to support researchers and stimulate them to publish in journals,supporting researchers and motivating them to publish in reputable journals.

The council discussed the proposal to reduce study fees in order to ease the burden of students and encourage them to complete their educational journey.

The discussions also focused on the creation of new scientific branches in a number of colleges, in line with the requirements of the labor market and the trends of contemporary scientific research.

The Council emphasized the need to develop mechanisms to support scientific research by providing a stimulating research environment and encouraging publication in indexed journals.

The meeting paid special attention to supporting foreign students enrolled in the “Study in Iraq” program, by providing the necessary facilities and taking care of their academic and social conditions to ensure their integration, improve their scientific achievement and achieve success and purpose.

The meeting also discussed a number of other items on its agenda.
