Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, received on Monday, July 21, 2025, in his official office, Her Excellency Mrs. Alitha del Pulgar, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Iraq.

He welcomed her and her visit to the University of Mosul, expressing his appreciation for its dimensions and objectives.

The two sides discussed a number of important topics and issues on the way to advance the educational process, including the exchange of scientific expertise between the university and Spanish universities and the importance of fruitful cooperation between them in various scientific and educational fields, the possibility of sending students to the Spanish Kingdom to study and obtain master’s and doctoral degrees in the Spanish language, as well as receiving Spanish students to study the Arabic language at the University of Mosul.

In addition to extensive discussions on future efforts to open a scientific department for the Spanish language at the University of Mosul that allows students the opportunity to learn it and familiarize themselves with its cultural aspects.

For her part, the Spanish Ambassador expressed her happiness for this visit, expressing her appreciation to the President of the University for the warm reception , expressing her admiration for the prestige of the University of Mosul and its scientific history full of achievements, the ancient civilization of the ancient city of Mosul, and what was achieved in the process of reconstruction after the destruction it witnessed.

She emphasized on Spain’s keenness to build successful cooperation relations between the two countries in general and their academic institutions in particular.
