PhD Dissertation at the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, University of Mosul, on Developing a Numerical Method for Solving Fuzzy Fractional Partial Differential Equations

On Monday, August 4, 2025, the College of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Mosul held a PhD dissertation defense titled:

“Enhancement of the New Iterative Method for Solving Fuzzy Fractional Partial Differential Equations”

The dissertation was presented by researcher Mustafa Raed Najib, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Abdulrahim Ibrahim Jassim, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Duha Basheer Abdullah, Dean of the College, and Father Raed Adel Kallo, Representative of the Syriac Catholic Churches in Mosul, along with a group of faculty members and postgraduate students.

The dissertation aimed to develop an improved numerical method for solving fuzzy fractional partial differential equations by enhancing the New Iterative Method (NIM). A new control parameter was introduced to flexibly manage the time expansion point, contributing to faster convergence of solutions and reducing numerical errors. To achieve higher accuracy, a Swarm Optimization algorithm—an artificial intelligence technique—was employed, demonstrating high efficiency in optimizing numerical results.

The Examination Committee consisted of:
Prof. Dr. Saad Fawzi Jassim – Chair

Prof. Dr. Ikhlas Saadallah Ahmed – Member

Prof. Dr. Alan Jalal Abdulqader – Member

Prof. Dr. Abdul-Ghafoor Mohammed Amin Khidr – Member

Asst. Prof. Dr. Thaer Younis Thanoon – Member

Prof. Dr. Omar Saber Qasim – Member & Supervisor
