Organic Fertilizers and Their Role in Sustainable Agriculture as Part of the University of Mosul’s Efforts to Promote Environmental Awareness and Support Sustainable Development

As part of its ongoing initiatives to raise environmental awareness and advance sustainable development, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the University of Mosul organized a workshop on Monday, August 11, 2025, titled: “Organic Fertilizers and Their Role in Enhancing Sustainable Agriculture – Vermicompost as a Model.”
The session was presented by Assistant Lecturer Rahma Mukhlis Adel, who holds a Master’s degree in Plant Protection Sciences from the College of Agriculture and Forestry.
The workshop highlighted the benefits of organic fertilizers compared to chemical alternatives, the best practices for their use in clean agriculture, and their contribution to improving soil quality and protecting human health, in addition to their role in advancing agricultural sustainability.
The speaker emphasized the need to spread awareness about the importance of organic fertilizers as a safe, eco-friendly alternative that supports sustainable agricultural production and preserves environmental balance.
