University of Mosul… Scientific Visions to Advance Research, Development, and Nation-Building

On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, received in his official office Mr. Mohammed Al-Jalili, a founding member of the Mosul Center for Strategic and Future Studies—an independent research institution—along with his accompanying delegation, to discuss ways of strengthening academic and research cooperation and to explore the university’s potential support for the center’s programs and projects.
The meeting addressed several strategic research issues and the possibility of launching joint scientific projects that contribute to enhancing capabilities and advancing the educational process through impactful research, reputable scientific journals, and international partnerships.
The University President emphasized the important role of the center in formulating strategies that support various institutions, and affirmed the university’s commitment to exploring mechanisms for supporting the center in a manner that serves shared objectives and facilitates its academic and research activities.
For his part, the center’s director commended the University of Mosul’s academic and infrastructural achievements, which have enabled it to enter prestigious global rankings, as well as its progress toward sustainability and transformation into a productive university. He expressed the center’s readiness to provide in-depth studies that benefit both the community and the university, and his aspiration for a fruitful partnership.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides exchanged gifts: Mr. Al-Jalili presented his book “The Darkness of Mosul” to the University President, while the latter gifted him “Tales of Nineveh: When Smoke Became a Homeland.”
