On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, visited the Chinese Embassy in Baghdad, where he was warmly received by His Excellency Mr. Cui Wei, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Iraq.

During the meeting, discussions focused on ways to provide the necessary requirements for the establishment of a Chinese Language Department at the College of Arts, University of Mosul, as part of efforts to strengthen academic openness and cultural exchange between Iraq and China.

Both sides emphasized the importance of this step in enabling students to learn Chinese and engage with China’s rich civilization. This initiative is expected to contribute to the development of scientific research and higher education, while deepening the collaborative relationship between the University of Mosul and Chinese universities.
