University of Mosul President Hosts French Consul in Nineveh to Discuss Scientific and Cultural Cooperation

On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, welcomed Mr. Fabrice Deblition, the French Consul in Nineveh, in the presence of Professor Dr. Abdul Rahim Ibrahim Jasim, the Assistant of the President for Scientific Affairs.
During the meeting, they discussed prospects for academic and cultural cooperation between the University of Mosul and educational and research institutions in France, exploring ways to develop bilateral relations to create broader opportunities for scientific exchange, academic knowledge transfer, and the establishment of joint research programs in areas of mutual interest.
Both sides also addressed the possibility of organizing joint cultural events to promote mutual understanding between the two nations, as well as supporting French language education in relevant university departments. These initiatives aim to broaden students’ horizons and enhance their linguistic and cultural skills.
For his part, the French Consul expressed his happiness with the visit to the University of Mosul and praised the clear academic and infrastructural developments it has achieved. He commended the university’s leadership for its efforts in advancing higher education and scientific research in Nineveh and emphasized France’s desire to open new cooperation opportunities with the university in the fields of education, culture, and research.
At the end of the meeting, the President of the University of Mosul thanked and appreciated the French Consul for his interest in strengthening academic and cultural cooperation, affirming the university’s commitment to building international partnerships in line with its vision of expanding its global academic connections with reputable universities and institutions.
