Mosul University Shines in Day of Science and Leadership Awards

The University of Mosul excelled at the 2025 Science and Leadership Awards Ceremony organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, celebrating the achievements of outstanding individuals in scientific research, innovation, and youth leadership. The event was held as part of the Iraq Education Conference 2025, which was attended by a distinguished group of scientists and academics from both inside and outside Iraq.
The University of Mosul won four awards across various categories, reflecting its scientific and research excellence and academic leadership. Dr. Thamer Abdul-Jabbar Omar from the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Alaa Abdul-Wahid Dhnoun from the College of Administration and Economics, and the Iraqi Journal of Veterinary Sciences, which secured second place in the category of Outstanding Scientific Journal, were among the awardees. Additionally, the university won the Encouraging Student Volunteer Work Award, presented to the English Conversation Club team under the President’s Office / Science and Technology Gardens Department / Rehabilitation and Employment Division. Dr. Omar Qusai Jasim, the director of the division, received the award on behalf of the team’s representative, student Abdulrahman Majid Adnan from the College of Computer Science and Mathematics.
This recognition came during an evening organized by the Scientific Research Authority, which celebrated creative achievements in various fields, including volunteer work, book writing and translation, outstanding graduation projects, patents, and the Young Researcher Leadership Award. This event underscored the ministry’s commitment to fostering a culture of creativity and innovation within Iraq’s higher education institutions.
The Presidency of the University of Mosul emphasized that these achievements reflect the advanced scientific level of its faculty and students, embodying the university’s mission to build a knowledge-based society that contributes to sustainable national development.
