Mosul University Ranked in the 2025 Global Leiden Ranking for Research Performance

 

According to the CWTS Leiden Ranking 2025 released by the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) at Leiden University in the Netherlands, Mosul University achieved advanced positions both locally and globally, reaffirming its distinguished research standing among Iraqi and international universities.

Mosul University ranked 1,456th globally and 697th in Asia, and came in fifth place nationally within the general classification that covers five major scientific fields included in the Web of Science database.

Within the detailed disciplinary rankings among Iraqi universities, Mosul University achieved remarkable positions as follows:

⦁ 2nd place in Humanities and Social Sciences.

⦁ 3rd place in Medical and Health Sciences.

⦁ 3rd place in Natural and Earth Sciences.

⦁ 5th place in Computer Science and Mathematics.

⦁ 8th place in Engineering and Physics.

The CWTS Leiden Ranking is based on a rigorous analysis of research output quality and scientific impact through precise indicators, including the proportion of papers among the top 10% most cited worldwide, the Mean Normalized Citation Score (MNCS), and levels of international scientific collaboration.

This achievement reflects Mosul University’s ongoing commitment to research excellence, academic openness, and international collaboration, consolidating its position among the top Iraqi universities featured in global rankings.
