Mosul University’s College of Dentistry Continues Awareness Program on Drug Prevention and Its Impact on Health and Society

As part of Mosul University’s efforts to enhance community awareness and support sustainable development goals, the College of Dentistry continued its activities within the awareness program on drug prevention by organizing a workshop titled “The Danger of Drugs and Their Impact on Health and Society” on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. This event was held in collaboration with the Sustainable Development Unit, the Media and Government Communications Department at the university presidency, and the Ninawa Anti-Narcotics Directorate.
The workshop featured Colonel Abdullah Al-Rashdi, Deputy Director of the Directorate, and Mr. Falah Mahdi Saleh, Media Director at the Directorate, and was attended by several faculty members, students, and staff from the Anti-Narcotics Directorate’s Media Department. The session covered various topics, including the health effects of drugs on body systems and the immune system, the reasons behind drug use, the psychological and social factors related to addiction, and ways to prevent and reduce the spread of this phenomenon.
The speakers emphasized that combating drugs is not solely an issue of security but requires extensive community collaboration to spread preventive awareness among youth and students, and to support educational and health initiatives in this area.
This workshop is part of a series of ongoing events organized by Mosul University to promote health education and reinforce positive behavior within the university community, in line with sustainable development goals related to good health, quality education, peace, and justice.
