Dryland and Conservation Agriculture Research Center Continues the Initiative of “Ghiras Al-Rahma” Toward a Greener University Environment

In alignment with Mosul University’s leadership in supporting environmental initiatives and enhancing the sustainability of green spaces, the Dryland and Conservation Agriculture Research Center carried out an extensive campaign as part of the “Ghiras Al-Rahma” initiative, under the supervision of the Agricultural Unit in the Administrative Affairs Department and in collaboration with the Media and Government Communications Department at the university presidency.

The campaign focused on planting species of trees and plants that are suitable for the local environment and climate, contributing to increasing vegetation cover and improving the environmental conditions in Iraq. The campaign saw active participation from the center’s researchers and engineers, who contributed to the fieldwork with high levels of volunteerism and responsibility.

This initiative reinforces the center’s role in supporting environmental sustainability, promoting the culture of afforestation, and raising climate awareness, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 13 (Climate Action) and Goal 15 (Life on Land), aiming for a cleaner environment and a better life with a green belt within the university and the community.
