The Psychological Counseling Department at Mosul University Participates in the National Conference on Drug Addiction Prevention

The University Counseling Department, based on a direct directive from Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of Mosul University, participated in the proceedings of the national conference titled “The Role of Educational Institutions in Reducing Drug Abuse,” which was recently held at the Iraqi University in Baghdad. The conference was organized under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research/Research and Development Department, in collaboration with the College of Islamic Sciences at the Iraqi University.

This participation aligns with Mosul University’s increasing commitment to enhancing its national role in addressing social issues, particularly drug abuse, which targets youth and poses a serious threat to their future.

The conference served as an important opportunity for representatives from the Counseling Department to explore the latest research and practices adopted by educational institutions to raise awareness and prevent addiction. It also facilitated the exchange of experiences with specialists and researchers from various Iraqi universities.

This participation is expected to contribute to the development of the operational system within the Counseling Department at Mosul University, strengthening its preventive and awareness programs, and supporting the university’s efforts to create a safe campus environment dedicated to protecting students and shielding them from the risks of addiction.
