University of Mosul Supports Students’ Emerging Entrepreneurial Projects in Collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM)

Under the patronage of Prof. Wahid Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and the supervision of Prof. Abdulrahim Ibrahim Jasim, the Assistant of the President for Scientific Affairs, the Department of Science and Technology Parks organized a specialized workshop in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), one of the United Nations agencies dedicated to supporting and empowering communities.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the culture of entrepreneurship among university students and support founders of emerging projects by introducing the funding programs provided by IOM for small and innovative ventures. The organization’s team outlined the application procedures, evaluation stages, and selection criteria, noting that financial support ranges from 6.5 million IQD up to 39 million IQD, depending on the project type, development stage, and evaluation outcomes.
The event targeted innovative students and early-stage entrepreneurs who had previously registered with the Department of Science and Technology Parks, undergone interviews, and had their ideas assessed. The goal was to help them develop their projects and prepare them to advance toward higher levels of incubation and institutional support.
This workshop comes as part of a series of programs implemented by the Department of Science and Technology Parks to foster an entrepreneurial ecosystem within the University of Mosul, follow up on students’ projects, and prepare them for integration into the labor market—aligned with the university’s vision of supporting innovation and contributing to national economic development.
