University of Mosul Participates in the Scientific Symposium Held by the Ministry of Planning on World Standards Day

Professor Dr. Abdulrahim Ibrahim Jasim, Assistant President of the University of Mosul for Scientific Affairs, participated in the scientific symposium organized by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control at the Ministry of Planning on Wednesday, 3 December 2025, in celebration of World Standards Day.

Dr. Abdulrahim delivered a lecture addressing the efficiency of asphalt pavement modified with polymers as additives and waste materials as fillers, highlighting their impact on enhancing the performance of asphalt mixtures, improving durability, and extending service life.

The symposium was also attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Talib Hameed, Associate Dean of the College of Engineering for Scientific Affairs, representing the college, along with a large number of representatives from various ministries and relevant governmental institutions.

The event aimed to discuss the latest engineering standards related to the use of polymers as asphalt binder modifiers, assess their efficiency and applications, and produce recommendations that support the development of Iraq’s road network and the improvement of infrastructure quality in line with sustainable development requirements.
