Towards a Productive University: The University of Mosul Discusses Prospects for Transforming Research Ideas into Applied Entrepreneurial Projects Serving the Labour Market

The Department of Science and Technology Parks at the University Presidency organized a specialized workshop on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, titled “Innovative and Entrepreneurial Projects: Prospects and Practical Experiences.”
The workshop featured a prominent international scientific figure, Dr. Ihsan Al-Tai, an expert in innovation, technology, and the development of materials and energy. Dr. Al-Tai, who has over 35 years of experience in leading research and development at global institutions such as Saudi Aramco and the Canadian Ministry of Natural Resources, and holds a PhD from the University of Manchester, shared insights from his extensive experience in establishing innovation centers and strategic programs.
The workshop saw active participation from officials of the technological incubator units at the university’s colleges, along with a distinguished group of faculty members and researchers. The aim was to instill a culture of entrepreneurship within the university environment, highlighting successful models for transforming research outputs into applied projects that meet the needs of the labour market. This initiative aligns with the University of Mosul’s strategy to support innovation and serve the community.
