French Consul Mr. Fabrice Dublechian visited the University of Mosul to follow up on aspects of joint cooperation and review the progress of the French grant projects allocated for the rehabilitation and development of the university’s medical research and treatment centers.

He was received by Professor Dr. Abdul Rahim Ibrahim Jassim, Assistant President of the University of Mosul for Scientific Affairs, in the presence of a number of academic and health-sector leaders. The two sides held a joint meeting during which they discussed the progress of the French grant projects, including what has been completed and what remains to be implemented. They also discussed future plans to strengthen scientific, academic, and service cooperation between the University of Mosul and French universities, organizations, and institutions, thereby opening new horizons for cooperation and the exchange of expertise.

As part of the field visit, the French Consul inspected several projects and works implemented under the grant and witnessed the commencement of the installation of a state-of-the-art magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system, one of the latest models manufactured by the global company Siemens. According to the project’s approved specifications, the system is the first of its kind in Iraq and the second in the Middle East.

The tour also included several sites where construction, technical, and equipment-related works are ongoing. The Consul reviewed the stages of completion and progress achieved and received a technical briefing on the nature of the projects and their importance in developing the infrastructure and medical and research services at the University of Mosul.
