University of Mosul Achieves a Global Research Breakthrough with an Innovative Soil Physics Model

The University of Mosul has achieved a distinguished scientific accomplishment through the publication of a research paper by PhD student Maqsoud Khalid Abdulrahman from the Department of Soil Sciences and Water Resources, College of Agriculture and Forestry, in the journal Frontiers in Soil Science, which is classified among the top quartile (Q1) journals worldwide.
As part of his doctoral dissertation and under the supervision of the late Assistant Professor Dr. Faris Akram Al-Wazzan (may he rest in peace), the researcher developed a new mathematical and hydraulic model, introduced for the first time globally under the name Continuous Transition Model (CTM), to improve the accuracy of predicting water movement within soil.
This achievement represents a significant scientific contribution that helps address the challenges of water scarcity and climate change while supporting food security. It also highlights the University of Mosul’s global research presence and leadership in scientific innovation.
