Sinjar Under the Lens of Agricultural Scientific Research: Field Tours Conducted by the Staff of the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research.

Within the framework of implementing the research plan for the current agricultural season, a specialized team of researchers and staff members from the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research, in cooperation with the Solidarity Organization, conducted a field visit to the Sinjar district on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. The delegation was headed by Professor Dr. Salim Hammadi Anter, Head of the Agronomy Department at the Center, with the aim of carrying out field observations and collecting data related to the agricultural studies and research projects implemented by the Center.

The visit included field tours across several agricultural sites to monitor the status of cultivated crops and evaluate the prevailing environmental and agricultural conditions in the region. It also involved collecting field measurements and essential data to support the Center’s research activities in arid farming and conservation agriculture.

The delegation emphasized that these visits are part of the Center’s scientific program aimed at developing agricultural technologies suited to arid regions and enhancing the efficiency of natural resource utilization in ways that support agricultural production and contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:

SDG 2: Zero Hunger

SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

SDG 13: Climate Action

SDG 15: Life on Land

SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

This visit reflects the Center’s commitment to continuing its research and field activities and expanding cooperation with various agricultural regions in support of developing the agricultural sector in Ninawa Province and similar environments.
