The Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Researches held a scientific workshop on food security in Iraq.

On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Researches , in collaboration with the Human Rights Division, held a specialized scientific workshop titled “Food Security in Iraq: Challenges and Solutions.” The workshop was presented Head of the Human Resources Development Department at the center lecturer : Abbas Ali Ahmed and Assistant Agricultural Engineer: Iman Akram Abdul Hakim, as part of a series of research activities carried out by the center to support sustainable agricultural policies.
The workshop aimed to shed light on the state of food security in Iraq and analyze its most prominent challenges, such as climate change, dwindling natural resources, and declining local production. It also reviewed possible technical and administrative solutions to enhance the national food security system.
This workshop comes in the context of supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly (Goal 2: Zero Hunger) by improving agricultural production and enhancing access to safe and nutritious food, and (Goal 4: Quality Education) by disseminating agricultural knowledge and developing research and technical capabilities in this vital field.
