A (Seminar) entitled (Hair Combs in Light of Cuneiform Sources)
On Monday, April 10, 2023, The College of Archaeology/ University of Mosul held a seminar entitled (Hair Combs in the Light of Cuneiform Sources).
It seminar was delivered by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hamza Hussein al-Ta’i, a lecturer in the Department of Iraqi Ancient Languages. The presenter explained that hair combs are one of the most important and wonderful adornment tools that the ancient Iraqis excelled in making and designing artistic scenes on, and they occupied a large space in the ancient Iraqi society for men and women because of their close association with the aesthetic aspect, as they are considered one of the most important adornments used by them. Being an integral and crucial part of appearance and beauty, hence the importance of the selection of combs as a topic for research and investigation to provide a clear picture of it, and to shed light on the various types of materials used in its manufacture (such as all kinds of metals, wood, ivory, bones, etc.), as well as its multiple uses (such as cleaning hair, and styling, and treatment, and in magic) among the ancient Iraqis.
