Participation of the Dean of the College of Archaeology in a Master’s Thesis at Al-Qadisiyah University

Professor Yasmine Abdul Karim Muhammad Ali, Dean of the College of Archaeology, chaired the defense of the master’s thesis entitled “Metal Statues in Mesopotamia until the End of the Second Millennium BC” at Al-Qadisiyah University on Monday, September 15, 2025. The thesis was presented by student Samir Amer Abdul Jassim Ali. The thesis examined metal statues in Mesopotamian civilization from its beginnings until the end of the second millennium BC. These statues were not merely decorative works of art; they carried symbolic, religious, and social dimensions that reflected the depth of Mesopotamian thought and civilization.
The study examined 87 statues, varying in material (bronze, copper, gold, silver, etc.) and subject matter (votive statues offered to the gods, foundational statues in temples, or commemorative statues of kings and rulers).
This thesis is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, Goal 4: Quality Education, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
