Discussion of the Master’s Thesis (Babylon in the Amarna Letters)

On Monday morning, 10/24/2022, a master’s thesis entitled (Babylon in the Amarna Letters) was discussed at Bahnam Abu Al-Souf Hall at the college of Archeology for researcher Yassin Ramadan Hassan.The thesis included shedding light on the history of the relations of the Babylonian state under the Kassite rule with the countries of the Nile Valley by extrapolating the exchanged Amarna letters between the Kassite kings, specifically the two kings Kadashman – Enlil (the first) (1374 – 1360 BC) and his successor on the Babylonian throne, Borna – Buriash (the second). ) (1359 – 1333 BC) with the pharaohs of Egypt during the reign of its eighteenth dynasty, specifically the reign of Amenhotep (III) (1405 – 1367 BC) and Amenhotep (IV) (1367 – 1350 BC). Given the importance of this topic as it represents a period of time from the ancient political and diplomatic history of Iraq with Egypt,The thesis also talked about the discovery of letters in the city of Akhet Aton, known today as Tell el-Amarna, and a review of the study models, which included fourteen letters.
