The College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering at the University of Mosul hosted its first international conference under the theme “Contemporary Challenges in the Oil and Mining Industry: Sustainable Solutions and Ideas” on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, which will continue until February 12, 2026. The event was attended by Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, Assistant Professor Dr. Rafal Hasan Hamed, Assistant to the President for Administrative Affairs, along with a number of deans, academic figures, researchers, and students from the university.

The first day of the conference featured a series of scientific lectures discussing the contemporary challenges in the oil and mining sector, highlighting the use of artificial intelligence technologies and local raw materials in improving oil operations, while presenting scientific solutions and sustainable ideas that contribute to the development of this vital sector and enhancing its developmental role.
